Literature Text

The memories of our walks fall freely in my mind
Like the snowflakes that fall on a cold winter's day
I recall the warmth of your hand once clasped in mine
That warmth could scare even the coldest thoughts away
It has me to think of the love that we would share
The snow that would fall so pure and so white
Behind the drifts disappeared the sun's bright glare
And your smile became that warm glow in the night
With the snow came the ice so harsh and cold
I remember how we lost everything that was found
Those grey skies which kept us in winter's death hold
Brings to mind our love now buried in the ground
And the empty tracks we left behind
Will keep me forever frozen in time
A sonnet comparing love to a winter day. In the beginning all you can see is the soft, pure snow. But as time goes by, you notice the ice forming around you.
